About our Limited Edition Old Tom Gin
Cheers to 10 years!
It all started in 2012, on our family farm in the British countryside and here we are in 2022, celebrating our 10 year anniversary. What better way to mark the occasion than by doing what we do best - making gin!
The Old Tom was a recipe popular in 18th-century England, when the British government tried to stem the flow of the gin craze through prohibitive licenses and taxing. This drove the gin scene underground and here is where the Old Tom was born.
A wooden plaque shaped like a black cat (an "Old Tom") would be mounted on the outside wall of some pubs. Under the cat's paw was a slot to put money in and a lead tube, from which the bartender inside the pub would pour a shot of gin. Genius!
You may know the story of why our very first still was named Curiosity...Back in 2012, the concrete was poured to stand our still upon and the next morning, paw prints were left in the dried concrete from a nosey intruder. You know what they say - it was curiosity that killed the cat.
So, storytelling over. Let's celebrate this amazing moment with an Old Tom Gin, inspired by our founder Tom Warner. Bold, warm & smooth...sounds familiar.
Serve over ice with Indian tonic. Garnish with a wedge of orange and cheers to 10 years!
